What patients should understand
Root-canal treatment addresses the tissues inside a tooth that may be inflamed or infected. A diagnosis requires clinical examination and potentially tests or imaging; tooth pain alone does not establish which procedure is appropriate. Restoring the tooth after treatment is often a separate step.
What to verify before selecting care
Ask whether the tooth can be predictably saved, which alternatives exist, how many appointments may be involved and whether a crown or other restoration is expected. Seek prompt care for significant swelling or worsening symptoms rather than self-diagnosing from a directory.
